How KnyhoObmin works and what we expect from our community
KnyhoObmin is a community-run, experimental peer-to-peer book lending platform for Ukrainian-speaking communities. It connects people who wish to share physical books with those who wish to borrow them. KnyhoObmin is operated by an individual and is not a commercial service, registered business, or financial institution. Because the platform is in an early experimental stage, policies may be updated at any time.
KnyhoObmin does not own, hold, store, insure, or take possession of any books. All transactions occur directly between registered users. The platform connects lenders and borrowers, provides a catalog and messaging interface, and maintains reputation history. KnyhoObmin is not a party to any lending transaction between users.
By listing a book, the lender agrees to accurately describe its condition, make it available to approved borrowers within a reasonable time, and understand that sharing is done at their own risk. The platform cannot guarantee the return or condition of any book. Lenders are encouraged to share only books they can afford to lose or have damaged.
By requesting to borrow a book, the borrower agrees to treat it with care and return it in the same condition as received, by the agreed due date. The borrower must not mark, annotate, damage, lose, or fail to return the book, and accepts full moral responsibility for any loss or damage. Failure to honour these commitments will be reflected in the borrower's reputation rating and may result in removal from the platform.
KnyhoObmin and its operator accept no liability for lost, stolen, damaged, or unreturned books; disputes between users; any financial or sentimental loss arising from a lending transaction; the accuracy of book condition descriptions; or any personal harm resulting from a meeting between users. By using this platform, all users explicitly acknowledge and accept these limitations.
All disputes are between the lender and borrower directly. KnyhoObmin does not arbitrate, mediate, or compensate in any dispute. The platform may facilitate communication between parties or suspend users with repeated negative reviews or confirmed bad conduct. Users are encouraged to resolve disputes amicably and in the spirit of community.
This platform operates on community trust. Users build a public reputation through ratings and lending history. Users are encouraged to rate every transaction honestly, leave helpful comments, and report any serious misconduct through the platform's messaging system.
By registering on KnyhoObmin, users confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to this policy. Users who do not agree should not use the platform.
